Soft and colorful. Warm and enveloping. Practical and indispensable. What tenderness are baby rompers! They are typically one of the first things the expectant mother buys for her upcoming baby. But also giving them is always a pleasure, both for those who buy them and for those who receive them. Especially at the beginning, the onesie are never enough: they are - without danger of contradiction - the most comfortable garment for our puppies. And they can also be particularly beautiful. So ... let's go into this little guide to choose the best onesie for our children.

Baby rompers: what models exist

- One-piece rompers: they are the most classic of baby clothes, the one that is already used in the hospital. The onesie par excellence is all in one piece and, in most cases, also covers the feet (which allows you not to use socks or shoes). Usually, despite being a single garment, a leotard is used underneath, especially in autumn and winter.

- Outfits: this is a broken suit, i.e. shorts and a T-shirt. In many maternity wards, expectant mothers are requested in the delivery bag because they are considered more practical for changing nappies. And indeed it is. However, they absolutely require the use of the body underneath in order to keep the tummy and back warm.

- Rompers: they are whole, like the onesie, but with short sleeves and shorts. What a sight chubby arms and legs in the air! Obviously they are suitable for the summer season.

The choice of rompers varies according to your preferences, but above all according to the comfort and practicality in dressing our little one. At first it always seems like a very complicated undertaking, but you just need to get carried away and it will become child's play. At that point you will be able to understand if you prefer a whole or broken onesie model.

Baby rompers: which fabrics to choose

The golden rule is only one: natural fibers are always preferred for newborns. In fact, their skin is very delicate, in particular some predisposed subjects can develop problems such as dermatitis. In the choice of suits, green light in cotton, warm cotton, chenille and wool (the latter better if it does not go in direct contact with the skin: use the body underneath).

Choose the right fabric according to the season. Cotton is clearly lighter, but it does not detract from the fact that it can be used even if it is cold, as long as you cover the baby well underneath. Warm cotton, chenille and wool are better at colder temperatures. Beware of chenille, very soft and much loved: buy the onesie that are made with cotton chenille. Sometimes it is made with synthetic fabrics that do not allow perspiration. They should therefore be avoided.

Baby rompers: sizes

We immediately make a recommendation: when you go shopping for the baby do not exaggerate with the 0 month size, that is, the one for the birth. In the first few months, the baby's growth is very fast and the risk is that soon he will no longer fit into the rompers you bought for her arrival. Then reduce the number. And if for some reason you need the "mignon" size longer, you can always buy other onesie after birth. If you risk a premature birth, you need to act accordingly and be foresight by keeping some extra "mini onesie" ready.

Infant onesie usually follow this standard: 0 months, 0-3 months, 3-6, 6-9, 9-12, 12-18. Depending on the manufacturers, you may also find intermediate sizes, for example 0-1 months.

How to regulate, then? As we said, at the beginning it is better not to overdo it with the very small sizes. Whether breastfed or bottle-fed, the baby grows very quickly. Also, don't forget that you may also receive rompers as a birth gift, so there's no need to buy a mountain of them. In any case, the transition from 0 months to 0-3 will be quick, so consider it in your purchases.

Baby rompers: the colors

Let's face it: but who said that girls must dress in pink and boys in blue? Yes, it is true, they are practically a "must", but this does not mean that the layette must necessarily be monochromatic. There is a whole rainbow of colors to explore!

Most shades are absolutely unisex. Both Alberto and Giulia will therefore be able to have their green, orange, yellow onesie and so on. Maybe we'll leave the fuchsia to Francesca and the cobalt blue to Davide, but otherwise indulge yourself to the fullest! By the way: have you ever noticed how wonderful babies dressed in white are?

In the same way, green light also to the fantasies: stripes, squares, airplanes, butterflies and everything that your imagination commands. Make your little ones unique!

Baby rompers: types of closures

Another criterion for the choice of rompers for the newborn concerns the closure. There are various types. The most common is the opening under the legs with a series of press studs. These are by far the most comfortable: just think if you had to insert the button in the buttonhole when, immediately after the bath, the little one has a hunger attack that does not even leave time to think! The automatics are very simple and practical.

Other onesies have a rear opening on the little ass. This allows for a quick change, even if you are away from home and have an emergency changing table (such as the back seat of the car). Others still have a row of snaps on the front, along the entire body. Finally, there is the wallet closure, always on the front (this is especially recommended for bodies that are narrower and could be "unpleasant" to wear).

An aspect not to be overlooked is that of safety. The normal button could hide an important danger: if it comes off, perhaps because it has become loose with use, it can be brought to the mouth or nose, swallowed or inhaled. The automats protect you from this considerable risk.

The birth suit: the most exciting

In addition to being - for obvious reasons - the most exciting, the first onesie that your baby will wear will remain etched forever in your memory. This is because, for example, it will be immortalized in the very first photos of the child. There is no mother who does not choose the first outfit with extreme care. Many are also looking for something special for discharge day, in order to make a truly memorable home entry.

Before buying it, however, inform yourself well about the rules of the hospital where you intend to give birth. Each pregnant woman, especially if she attends the pre-birth course, is provided with a birth list with the things to bring for herself and the baby. Among the various information, you will then receive information on the type and quantity of rompers to prepare.

In addition to the specific requests of the ward, for the choice of the onesie for the birth take into consideration the estimated measures of the child (the adjective "estimated" is fundamental: there is no certainty about how much it will weigh or will be long, but these are measures approximate) and the period in which he will come into the world.

Gemini: the same or different onesies?

Clearly this is a completely subjective answer. Future parents decide whether their little ones will be dressed the same or differently, depending on their tastes. Of course, in the case of homozygous (therefore identical) twins the idea of dressing them in the same way can be nice. If you decide instead to differentiate there is also a purpose of mere utility: to distinguish the little ones from each other at least until you are able to notice any small different details.
